Deniz Özalpman, MA
Deniz Özalpman is conducting her PhD research at the Department of Communication of the University of Vienna, under the supervision of Professor Katharine Sarikakis. She is investigating the emergence of global media audiences and global texts through the case study of Turkish television drama series in European and Arabic local contexts.
Deniz completed her Master's degree in Media and Communication Studies at Galatasaray University (Turkey) in 2008. In her MA thesis, she made a cross-comparative theoretical analysis of the concept of media literac,y in order to analyze its official application in Turkish school systems. She earned a University Diploma at the French Journalism Institute (Institut Français de Presse) at Panthéon-Assas Paris II University (France), between 2000 and 2002. Her thesis focused on Turkey’s official tourist image and its visual representations. In 2001, she completed one year internship at TV5 Monde and Sipa Press Photography Agency in Paris. She also worked as research assistant between 2004 and 2011 in Radio Television Cinema Department at Yeditepe University (Turkey).
