Our lab is going to show strong presence at two major conferences, to be held in San Diego (USA) at the end of May 2017.

From May 23-26 Izabela Korbiel will participate in the Partnership for Progress on the Digital Divide (PPDD) 2017 International Conference and present the paper (co-written by Professor Sarikakis) "Human rights as ethical framework for technology developers".

Furthermore, the International Communication Association is also organising its 67th annual conference entitled "Interventions: Communication Research and Practice" in San Diego. Professor Sarikakis will chair several panels, participate in board meetings and present her work on "The place of policy principles in legitimacy and contestation in Europe" and "Crisis and intervention in small places: Nonprofessional live theatre as popular communication at the borders of Europe" (with Olga Kolokytha). Also, Krisztina Rozgonyi will talk about "Spectrum management under the theoretical lenses of public space – The role of policy framing in (de)politicisation of the digital switchover process", while Anthony Mills will give a presentation on "Climate of fear: The chilling effects of surveillance on journalism" and chair an additional panel entitled "The Governance of Free Speech and Journalism".
