Dr. Vasileios Vasilopoulos specializes in ethical media governance. He is the data protection officer for Greek public service media. He holds a doctorate in ethical media governance standards. He serves as an active member of a special task force set up in Greece (by the General Secretariat for Communication and Information of the Presidency of the Government.) in order to protect, secure, and strengthen the position of journalists and other media professionals in line with EU commission recommendations 1534/21. A certified lead auditor for ISO standards, he has extensive professional experience in implementing complex institutional frameworks (e.g. GDPR), is the author of "Quality Standards in Media, Do They Make Sense?" and a specialist in the emerging issues and moral challenges of artificial intelligence, as well as the balance of human rights in the media. There have been significant research projects he has participated in, including those related to an environmental journalism project, elections and political interactions, crime reporting, and hate speech research.
